Parkinson's disease is a movement disorder with symptoms that go beyond the motor dysfunction. About 20–50% of patients with Parkinson's disease develop mild cognitive impairment, characterised by memory decline, disorientation, or reduced cognition.1 Increasing evidence suggests that the risk of progression to dementia is high in patients with Parkinson's disease and mild cognitive impairment.2,3 Loss of cognitive ability and dependence on care can pose a huge burden for patients and their families.
